Post Rear End Swap 1974-2005

Hi Guys. Haven't been on the Dodge forum for quite some time. Looking for some advise. Recently purchased a 1974 Dodge D200 Long box with a 400BB. I am considering swapping out the rear end with one out of a 2005 Dodge Ram 2500. Anyone ever try something like this or have thoughts on it. Appreciate any feedback. Thanks.

Why? You most likely have a dana 70, Not much has changed from the original design so they are almost identical. I would check the width and spring perch locations they may be different.

Thanks for the reply/info Moparite. The reason I am doing the swap is I have an open dif and am wanting to replace it with a limited slip. I am not sure if the axles can just be swapped over into the 2005 dif or if I'm looking to throw the whole thing under her. I received the 2005 rear end for free, so I'm hoping I can use it. I'm going to take some measurements within the next few days. Fingers crossed they are the same.
