Default 57 royal ignition switch

I am pretty sure the ignition switch needs to be replaced. Is it possible to remove it to the inside of the car for replacement? I'm praying that the cover box on the firewall? in the engine compartment doesn't need to be removed for access. Thanks for any advice.

Never mind. Stupid question. It can be accessed under the dashboard.

On my '55, the ignition key also locks the doors. The other key locks the glove box and trunk. Visit a locksmith to have the new lock cylinder rekeyed so you don't have to have three keys instead of the two you have now
