1954 Factory Flatbed 241 V-8 3/4 ton question--->
Hey--I'm new here, got a question about an old Dodge truck that has kept my interest for some reason. I love old trucks and have had the pleasant (HA!) experience of restoring a 1953 Chevy half ton with my dad, a few years ago in high school. I love the look and feel of my old Chevy, but the looks/design of this truck has my interest:
My neighbor has an old 1954 Dodge light-duty 3/4 ton sitting down in his field, still in decent shape, that his father bought new in '54. I looked it over a couple of times, and it has the original 241 V-8 still in it, and it's a factory flatbed. I found out somewhere that 1954 was the first year that Dodge offered a V-8 in their trucks, and that there were less than 700 that came factory with V-8's in 1954. That would make this truck, a factory flatbed factory V-8, a rare option truck. It's also factory seafoam (light) green, black flatbed, has 3 lights on top of the cab,etc--truck looks like it was pretty cool back in the day. He told me that when he "put the truck down", that it had over 300,000 miles on it. Truck is still solid though.
Where can I find out the truth behind this truck. I wish he would sell it, but it's one of those "ahh, hell it's fine where it sits" kind of deals that makes it hard to work around. If this turns out to be a decent deal, I might go throw down some cash for it.
Wish I could post pics of it but the only pics I got of it are with a disposable camera, not digital.
If you have any information on this series truck, either post here or email me.... bigpat_98@hotmail.com
Thanks, and I love the Dodge site!
