A-833 Trans
[IMG][/IMG]
I have a 1969 383 with a 727 trans. I'm wanting to convert to an A-833 overdrive trans.
Question is will all A-833 fit the 383 engine?
The truck is a FoPar. 1956 F-100 with Mopar Drive Train & Suspension.
After All Dodge never made a good looking body style in a truck in the 50's. But they sure made a GREAT ENGINE & TRANS!

Fopar,
Yes the 383 will take an A833 4sp. That is the exact setup of have in my 69 Road Runner, including the overdrive gears, I have one A833 setup with standard gears for typical fun and one setup with the overdrive gearing for trips or touring. Much easier to swap the whole tranny than to keep changing the gearing back and forth.
You'll have no problems mating the tranny to the engine. It's the body application, you'll have some fun with. There are basically 2 different types of 833 in the 1969 era and the primary difference is in the location of the shifter mount location. For B-bodies the shifter mounted right behind the case, but on E-bodies it was mounted toward the rear of the tailshaft. Here is a link to a great tech article that you should find helpful.

Do you have the tranny yet or you just starting to look around?
