LIFTED DAKOTA
So I am looking into getting my '02 dakota lifted, but I don't know if that would look to crazy or not. And if it wouldnt look to bad, then how many inches should i lift it to make it look the best?
If you want to save $, and only do a small lift, you can do a 2" lift with a spacer kit in the front (its not a torsion bar int he front is it?? I have an 06 and its coil ), and lift blocks 2" in the rear. This shouldnt cost you more then $150 for the parts. I think you guys have add-a-leaf kits for the rear available also, which would cost a tiny bit more next to the blocks, but I think blocks are the best economic choice. I had no choice blocks were the only option for me. If you stay in the 2"-3" range you can retain your stock shocks, although some people might not recommend that, I have done this with no regrets more then once. So 2"-3" for $150 in parts. You could also go farther by then adding larger tires. Im not sure what your generation dakota has for stock tires, its probablly like 265/70. So if you could fit, which you most definately will be able to with 2" of lift, somthing like 285/75, (think thats like a 33") Then you will gain some ride height there also. My 06 came with 245/70-r16, so after my 2" raise, and mounting 32" tires, I was looking at about a 3" lift. For very little $$.
If moneys not a thing, then there are much better off-road setups then the one I did above. This setup is fine for the street and mild trailing, but a lift like this doesnt really increase the capability of the rig, it simply lifts the rig. Reliable though.
