Default 2008 Dodge Dakota QC with 3.0L Diesel.

Where is it?

I drove the 2007 Grand Cherokee Limited with the 3.0L diesel and was very impressed with the motor. Powerful and quiet.20+ MPG. I was less impressed with the fact they only offer it in the limited or above packages. I was also disappointed to learn that it isn't available in the Dakota for 2008.

Why don't they put this same motor in the Dakota? It seems like a perfect match. What is Dodge thinking?

I think that's the problem with all the car makers, at least the American ones, and that's the lack of engine/transmission choices. I can still remember when once upon a time in America, one could go to the dealer and then check off what engine/transmission/gear ratio you wanted....You know, it worked then, why can't it work now???
And yes, we need more diesels. I drove the Jeep Liberty with the CRD and it was great. Next thing you know, it's gone.

only reason the crd in the liberty is gone because volkswagon couldnt meet EPA '07 Diesel emission requirements... and the diesels in the liberty's are volkswagon engines

Interesting that the 4 cylinder, discontinued, CRD in the Liberty put out more torque than my 4.7 Dakota...and with better mileage figures. As for the new 3.0 diesel in the Grand Cherokee, my local dealer has one, but at over $46,000 in price, well, I'd rather have the SRT Grand instead.

it would be better if they had made a true reg cab with a 4cylinder diesel..i would give my 07 ram and my left nut for that

I've heard rumors that in 2010 they'll probably have the diesle in the Daks. Like I said, it's only a rumor.

Speaking of rumors, I heard that in 2019 Dodge will no longer exsist, and they will be called Hyde.

Again, the true joke is on the consumer as diesel is now gong for 30 cents less a gallon than regular unleaded in my area. The diesel will more than likely last longer and put out more torque...I hope that the new Chrysler ownership group will take the lead andput out more options for the consumers and we won't have to wait til 2050...

Dodge and most other manufacturers have been selling small and medium truck diesels in Europe for many years with 30+ MPG.

Wish Detroit would get it right here in the US.

Also, I thought the 2.7 Diesel in the Liberty was the same diesel sold in the ML 270 MB SUV sold everywhere but in the US.
