I would try a heat gun, or leave it out in the sun and let it get nice and hot. then peel it off.

you might have to buff/wax it. it depends how faded it is.

lightly go over it with a hair dryer. then once it is soft simply remove it slowly. if the sticker has been on for years then the 4 x 4 stain will be there. if you get lucky and its not there then take some wd- 40 on a rag and rub the area untill all the adhesive is gone. then give it a good washing and waxing and you will be good to go

Would this same technique apply to those window air deflectors that go around the passenger and driver side door windows?

For the air deflectors, I would let it sit in the sun, then pull off, then you just have to get all the residue off! WHICH IS A PAIN!

Ya I second that Klings...that residue is a huge pain to get off. Took me like 3 hours to get it all off. I didnt use WD-40...i used Goo Gone...not sure is better. Didnt really know you could use WD-40 like that. Wish i would have tried it now.
Good luck with the stickers if you aint done already.

Also if you are confident in your self and your vehicle has base/clear on it you can use mineral spirits---or if you are really good use thinner, but if you use any of those make sure to wash it afterwards and wax.
