Ok...Dodge tells me that they cannot and do not want to try to
help me. So hopefully someone can. I have a 97 Dodge
Dakota 5.2L 4X4, with the 4 Speed automatic trans. I want to
put a 5 Speed Manual transmission in but obviously need help.
I am told the major problem is with the computer. Okay..I know
enough about computers to know that you can make a
computer do anything you want it to with the right programming,
and the right programmer. I need to know how to make this
swap work. I am sure it is possible I just need to talk to the right
person or persons' that have done this or that know how to do
something like this. So the Call is out to all you Dodge wizards,
and fellow dodge builders, Help me out. How do I do this and
what am I looking forward too.

 

Ok. I have just been advised by a friend that worked for dodge
that this is not that hard. Said that the 97 did come with a
manual trans and that the trans is a NV3500. All I need to do is
buy the necessary trans and clutch components, and swap out
my Computer for on from either a half ton Ram or a 5-Speed
Dak from the years of 97-99. Anyone have any ideas where I
can get trans parts and Computer parts for a good price. Let
me know. Thanks.
