Default Good Deal?

Hi, I'm currently looking at buying a red06 Dakota R/T with 10k for $18,300 and was wondering some things about the trucks. As far as looks, comfort, and power I like the truck, but would like some more practical info. I couldn't really find anything on popular complaints mechanically except that they seem to cut off every now and then when coming to a stop. But I was wondering if there are any drive train or engine issues with these. When I was test driving it, it seemed to have a slight thump when starting from rest, but I wasn't sure if I was imagining things. Anyone else experience this?

What about resale value? Do they seem to hold their value decently or is it horrendous? I read some reviews on the base dakota and people were pissed about the resale value, is this the same with the r/t? Seems to me like they would hold their value decently.

Anyways, any info or being pointed in the right direction would be appreciated. Thanks.

Don't know much about resale value, I don't plan on selling mine for a long time. The biggest complaint for most people is probably the front shocks being rather lousy from the factory. I've never experienced that thump you mentioned, no drivetrain or engine issues for me. Had it stall twice but that hasn't happened since the dealer flashed the PCM (engine computer) with new software, seems it's a small glitch in the older software. If you haven't taken a look around the 3rd gen Dakota section yet I recommend doing so, you'll find a lot of info on them there.
