Ok having hard time starting the truck since it got cold, and it happens off/on to but its happening more often recently. I can crank and it sounds like its catching and then just sputters but if I give it some gas it will actually start. Then I have to actually keep slight pressure on the pedal to keep it running for about 30-60 seconds, after this the idle evens out and it runs fine on its own. When first starting I can smell fuel more than I used to. I dont seem to be suffering any performance issues while driving.

 

Holy **** dude... had the same exact effect on my truck a few weeks back. Just thought it wasneeding to warm upfrom gettingcold during the night, Wife and I went on a trip, few days later came home and Kota would just click at me like she was trying to turn over but couldnt. It was a dead/dying battery. On a side note, before the battery became dead it would hang up in the morning while starting to go to work and fire on time in the afternoon. Again I thought it was just temp but has alot to do with charge availible in the battery.

Test simple stuff first, easiest and cheapest to replace if actual problem.

 

Where are you located or at least how cold is it getting where you are at?

Up in the frozen tundra of ND right now it's around Zero degrees (often sub-zero) so what you are describing isn't uncommon for vehicles in the cold that don't have block heaters. As destruction mentioned a bum battery will often be the cause of something like this.

Speaking of cold I best plug the truck in tonight; supposed to get to -10 air temps.

 

Had the same problem. Plugged it in, and it ran fine

 

you might also try replacing the coolant temp sensor. The one for the computer (not the temp guage) affects cold starts

 

This is so crazy I am having the same issues with my 2002 SLT Quad Cab. I think its my distributer cap because its not sparking the wires to the spark plugsbut it is sparking to the coil cap. Hi.. I'm new to this forum.. I'm having the same problem ..Mine is a 93 with a 3.9. When it's plugged in
it will start ok and run all day.. but if I leave it over night it will not start.. does the 93 also have a
coolant temp sensor and if it does where is it and can it be bypassed
