approaching 70K miles
my 99 V8 dakota is swiftly approaching 70K miles. i tihnk its at 69,9something right now. ive never owned a vehicle with less than 150K miles on it so i am clueless as to what tihngs i need to do/look for when getting 'up there' in mileage. ive heard that some tihngs need to be replaced at 50K, 75K and 100K miles, but im not sure what. i did absolutely nothing at 50K miles, mostly becuase i didnt tihnk of it. i changed my air filter this past fall (for the first time since i bought the truck 2 and a half years ago..oops). i also had all 8 spark plugs replaced last spring. ive never really had to have any major repairs done on it (knock on wood) yet...with the exception of one that was done under warranty. everything seems to be going great in it right now (with the exception of the squealing in my other post).
replace the serpentine belt and tensioner, check your water pump for leaks, replace the fuel filter, check your coil packs for corrosion, check for oil sepeage at the valve covers, rear main seal, front crank seal or anywhere else you see oil seaping out.
