Default 2003 Dodge Dakota

Looking to purchase a 2003 Dodge Dakota Quad cab 4X4 SXT.The sticker on the door reads 245 70 R16 tires. Now from checking tirerack dot com.I see dodge sold thses using both 245 70 R16 and 265 70 R16 tires. Now I assume from the sticker it came with 245 70 R16's on it.The tires on it at present are the 265 70 R16 tires. With this size tire will my speedo read less then what I'm actually driving at.Also down the road when I need new tires will I save anything other then maybe some cash if I go back to the 245 70 R16 tires. With the 265 70 R16 tires what difference will I see. Will I use more gas for example.I don't know the rear end gear setup but going to assume the standard ratio setup.

I'm not a tire expert, but think the 245 and 265 are the width of the tire in millimeters, so that shouldn't effect your speedo. The 70 number is the width to height ratio, so a 60 or 45 number will be a short sidewall and would probably effect the speedo. Hope that helped.

it might affect it a little but not by more than 1 or 2 mph i would say. alot of these trucks have a bigger tire size then the door sticker on them. my truck has bigger ones then the sticker and is always right on whenever i pass a speed thing same with my old jeep so i wouldnt worry about it to much.
