I noticed my fan having a lot of play when the belt is removed. I tried to get the fan assy. off and I never saw one like this before. Any advice on how to get it off and replace the water pump. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

 

If I remember right,put the belt back on and put a big wrench on the nut behind the fan. And smack the wrench with a 2x4.The impact will brake the nut loose before the belt can slip.

 

DOdge, in their infinite wisdom, decided to make you need a special tool to remove it. Like injn said, you can try that. Or you could put a pry bar under the shaft and pulley bolts to remove it that way. Just be carefull about the radiator.

 

On my 94 V6 3.9 I used an air chizel with a point bit and carefully placed the bit against one of the big nuts edges gave a couple shots with the air ,it loosened rigt up.It loosens ccwise.

 

Some auto parts stores that have a loan a tool program have the tool that you need to get it off.
