Yup i'm not sure where to get a magnetic dial indicator short of ordering it online i have just checked basic tool places (sear, canadian tire etc). Never purchased one before any idea what kind of stores carry them?

Most tools stores will. Find a strictly tool store. A machinist tool store will work too. A Harbor Freight is a good place if you got one. If you have to go to a local quality shop and ask where to get some tools. Or use the Internet to find a store. www.ebay.com too.
