Default Oxidized paint on Roof

Hello everyone. I'm new to the board, but have owned my 2001 Quad cab since it was new and I love this truck!!! Unfortunately, I have a problem that I'm really curious about, especially curious to see if it is more widespread. About 6 months ago while washing my truck, I noticed a small trianglular shape of oxidation on my roof right dead center above where it meets the windshield. Over the past 6 months, it has gotten WAY worse. I called the dealer to ask them about it, and they just told me that it is something that can happen to any car, but they don't know of anything happening widespread with Dodge, or Dakotas imparticular. Now I've seen oxidized paint on other cars before, however they were much cheaper and much older cars. I wouldn't expect that after only 4 years this would happen to me.
A couple of days ago, I passed another Dakota Quad cab on the road and saw the exact same problem on his roof. Since the quad cab was new in 2001, I know his truck can't be older than mine.
My question is this. Are any of you experiencing the same problem? Just for peace of mind, I'd like to know how widespread this might be. The strange thing is that the rest of the paint on the truck is just fine, this is only happening on the roof. I appreciate everyones feedback.

Thanks.

Yes it is because its a dodge. There have been problems with the paint on dodges, and that just goes to show you that dodges are poor quality vehicles. Now I am not trying to put you down in any way, I am just saying what is very commonly said about Dodge quality.

Maybe these links can help you to find out what is going wrong with your paint.

Hello ddstem,
The Dakota Quad Cab is built at DaimlerChrysler's Warren (Mich.) Truck Assembly Plant (Dodge City) and production began in October, 1999. So it's first model year was 2000, not that this helps with your paint issue.. As far as the paint goes the only real issue I could find was in 1997 where "Radiant Red Metallic" paint suffered chipping problems because antichip primer was not applied during production. I have a 2001 QC also and the paint is fine ,so far.

And it's not chipping because it's a Dodge, just ask several of my friends who have owned two-tone chevys cause the whole top half of the car/truck flaked away......

The best advice I can give is to call Chrysler directly.... My front rotors warped after 13,000 miles and the dealer said it was normal wear...I called Chrylser direct and told them it was unacceptable and they agrued. They said they had problems with some getting rusty and pitted so they replaced the rotors for free and gave me the brake pads at dealer cost...they also had the dealer do it under warrenty work. The Dealer was pissed I went above him but the company as a whole knows more. Give them a call about the paint issue..

My one friend Heather called Chevy and got an 8 year old Corsica painted at their cost.
