Dakota/Ram 1500 Hard Toneau Cover
If anyone has had an interest in a hard toneau cover, but did not care for the roll-up type or the one-peice fiberglas type, I suggest you look at Peragon hard fold-up covers. I put one on my Dakota (2006) five years ago and it worked perfectly - both summer and in snow. The unit folds up to about six inches at the front of the bed and snaps closed with a tug on the nylon strap. The locking mechanism prevents the unit from opening and gives the unit a very secure feeling. The aluminum panels are connected to each other with metal fittings rather than the vinyl - easily cutable - of some roll-up units. When closed, the top will support probably 25-30 pounds even in the middle.
I recently traded my Dakota in for a 1500 and am awaiting the delivery of my new Peragon toneau cover. I am not sure how long the sale is, but the new top I ordered was reduced in price with free shipping.
