Default Is this a good starter truck for me?

Hello. I am new to these forums.

I am 15, going on 16 and I've been looking at getting a Dodge Dakota for a while. I've looked at two so far. The first one was a '93 Dakota for $1500.00. I was all ready to buy it, then I found out the Radiator has a hole in it so it isn't even drivable. Then, I found this kijiji ad a few days ago.

Now, it looks almost new, minor damage. It's a 5 speed manual which is what I want, perfect size, except for the problems that come with it.

The broken headlight area is no big deal. I can always fix that up later, but the 4x4 makes a noise when it is going above 50km/h. Now, I don't know if this is a problem with the 4x4 or anything else. I don't want this to be a serious problem. Do you know what it could be?

He is selling it for $2500 which I think is pretty good. It has 220xxx kms on it, so not that bad.

What do you think? I need this to be a really good truck, since I come from a GM family.

Thank you so much !

I would say go for the 93. A radiator is simple to replace. $150 new, or $50 if you have a radiator shop that can weld it. And it is drivable for 5-10 mins until it gets to hot. So if you need to drive it home you may be able to.

The 98 says it has a 5.8. There were no 5.8's. There is a 5.9. It was offered only in a R/T, which that one is not. So ether a 5.9 was swapped in or it is stock 5.2. I say it is a 5.2 which is still a V8 and has plenty of power. But for all the problems it does not sound like it was taken care of. For one 4wd is not meant to be driven at high speeds on dry pavement, that is how you brake things.
