What motors and trans interchange for the older dakotas. I need something that will bolt to a 2.2L that is fairly strong. For 88, Powerlink show that both a 2.2 and a 3.9, but it does not state if the 3sp and 4sp are specific to one motor or the other. Dido for the 2.5 and 3.9 in 1990. I have been told that 2.2s and 2.5 interchange, but I have heard nothing on the 2.2/2.5 to 3.9s.

I have a 2.2 in one vehicle and a 3.9 trans in a 94 Dakota and I want to bolt them up. Someone please help!
