My 1998 Dakota SLT, 5.2V8, 5spd has gotten 15.5 mpg for years. I know that no matter how I drive, it's going to 314 miles max a tank. Seldom do I go so far as to have the low fuel light come on though. I keep it tuned up, faithfully change oil myself(so it get's done right), and try to drive like I have some sense which isn't often. I keep the fuel system clean by adding Marvel Mystery oil to the gas every other fillup. And I don't use lousy Brand X gas. I prefer BP(Amoco white) 93 for clean burning efficiency. No I'm not picky, but with any vechicle and major investment...you get out of it, what you put into it.
