Default 16" Factory Rims

Need some advice here - I have a 98 Dakota with factory 15x7 rims. A friend of mine has a set of factory 16x8 rims (no tires) that he wants to GIVE me. All I have to do is buy some new tires. My goal is to gain just a little more height. Any recommendation on what size tires, and are there any watch out that I might have to overcome, like brakes etc.

265/70/16s. They're equal to 31s. you could go to 265/75/16s with no rubbing also. They're about a 32.

They will bolt up just fine. The Dakotas only use one bolt pattern from 97-2003 models.

As for your tires, make sure when you choose them that you get tires not for height but for the style of driving you do. If you dont offroad or deal with lots of bad weather......you may be wasting your money/bad gas mileage by trying to raise your truck by slapping huge tires more inclined for rough terrain/off road.

I ran performance tires on my 01 Dakota......Kumho ECSTA STX.......awesome tires.... for the money, I couldnt find a better tire with this kind of performance for Light Sport Trucks/SUV's $500 for all 4 with road hazard...

15" tires are cheaper - I switched from the 16" steelies with hubcaps (on an slt??!!) to a buddy's older OEM 15" alloys and shaved about $40 per tire off my cost for the same size tire.

The size we have on our quad cab dak is 255/70/16 and they are tall enough. They make the truck sit well. Any higher and it would need running boards. Not to mention if ya hit a bump while you are turning, they rub now as they are. Take a look.
