Default oil weight

I know this is not a question that a guy should be asking but what weight oil should I use when I change it? I have looked all through the book and can't seem to find it anywhere. I know in my S-10 I used 5W-30. Any help will be very appreciated.

I used to be anti synthetic...but the more i look into things and the fact that it is making you less dependant on them oil *****....it makes more sense....

It's really going to depend on the outside temps...if it's going to be cool in your area for the next 3 months, I'd stick with either Mobil 1 5W-30/Amsoil 5W-30 fully synthetic. For the summer months, I'd go to a synthetic 10W-30. Don't add any "oil treatments" to the synthetics, either....messes up the chemistry.

Same here. I was raised on dino oil and thought it was the best for all engines. After being in the Air Force for 21 years and seeing that they use synthetic oil in the F-4s, F-15s, F-16s, (the other aircraft data is "classified"), I figured I might want to give it a try. The only thing that kept me away was the price. However, I can skip a $3 cup of coffee at Starbucks every week or two and help keep my SRT-4 running like new...[sm=smiley20.gif]

Totally!!! That's one of the reasons it's "factory fill" for Vipers and SRT-4s. The Amsoil and Mobil 1 web sites have all the "proof" and there is an ongoing synthetic oil test at http://oilstudy.spacebears.com
