im new here... but i did notice that it says Gen 1 1996 and older, Gen 2 1997-2004, and Gen 3 2005+

when in reality..
1986-1990 are 1st gens
1991-1996 are 2nd gens
1997-2004 are 3rd gens
2005+ are 4th gens

Yea I wish they'd put it that way. Almost got confused as seeing a 3rd Gen being posted as a second.

 

Well, actually these Gen definitions refer to body style, so they are correct. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dodge_Dakota . 86-96 Gen1, 97-04 Gen2, 05-current Gen3. Engine generations are different as Magnum was introduced in 92. But it went into the same Gen1 body.

 

yea its done by body styles...

 

86-96 is one gen because I think they only changed the front end. not sure if they made any changes to the powertrain.
