Default 95 Dakota Voltmeter woes

I recently picked up a 1995 Dakota with the 318 (fun truck). It is running great but the other day the voltmeter quit working on me, the needle fell all the way to the left. I checked the battery with a multimeter while the truck was off and it's showing a little over 12 volts, so I checked it while running and it showed a little over 14 volts. So the electrical system seems ok to me, which makes me think it's the voltmeter itself, or the wiring leading to it. Is there any wiring or a fuse or something that could have gone bad and where would I look for it, or any way to check the voltmeter directly?
