Mitsu Raider = Dakota
I have grown to like the newer design of the 'Kota, but you know what's wierd is I am usually slamming on the Jap Mitsu's, but I think I do like the styling of the Raider better than the 'Kota!
Lets put it on record though I still aint jumpin' the boat!

Mitsubishi is like a joint partner with Dodge, aka leach sucking off profit and Dodge's ideas. It's not a horrible looking truck, but the Dakota is better. Anyone know if the Mitsubishi offers a 4.7 V8?
Nevermind, that answered it.

The Raider has the exact same powertrain as the Dakota (3.7 liter base, 4.7 optional

I don't know if it is fair to accuse Mitsubishi of being a "leach" for this. Dodge (and Chrysler divisions) has used some of Mitsubishi's ideas in the past. As I listed earlier, the Stealth was just a reskined 3000GT, the Talon was a reskinned Eclipse (although the second generation had more Chrysler technology and influence to make things more balanced), Ram D50 was a rebadged Raider (the original), the Stratus coupe is a slightly larger version of the 2000-05 Eclipse, etc. I actually prefer to see things this way. I believe Chrysler is capable of making better cars and trucks with better powertrains than Mitsubishi. Which way would you rather have it? Mitsubishi having a truck built for them that is a good, proven truck, or having Dodge get stuck with a rebadged vehicle which is not quite as good (at least in my opinion).

The 230 hp version is offered, just not the 250 hp H.O. version.

Exactly. Its not like Chrysle hasnt "leeched" off others as you said. The Chrysler Crossfire is nothing more than a rebodied Benz SLK also.
Both Dakota a Raider are built on the Warren Truck Assembly line in Detroit. Both trucks will have the same build quality. But DCX just dumped all the Mitsubishi stock they controlled about a month ago. So who knows what is going to happen to all the shaired vehicles and parts now? Mitsubishi is on its own again...
didnt feel like reading most but im gonna point out that (sorry if someone already said this ) but raider is a dodge name also remember that funky lookin (dont get me wrong it was ok) compact suv thing from the 80 and this wouldnt be the first time remember the d-50 it was either originally dodge or mitsu its hard to tell

First I have to say that if you step into the "Brand News, Concepts and Rumors" section of this forum, you'd know this already...
This is a joint project between DaimlerChrysler and Mitsubishi, as was the Stealth/3000GT, Stratus/Eclipse, Caliber/Lancer, Galant/Sebring/Avenger and soon will be Caravan/New Mitsu mini-van...
Secondly, DaimlerChrysler doesn't own 50% of Mitsubishi... They own about 14%, including all of the commercial truck division, Fuso. Also, they are actually in the process of selling the 14% back...

I think it's pretty sad that Mitsu has to use a name for a vehicle that has already been used. The Dodge Raider was first, which was a pretty nice suv for the time. Now Mitsu has to go and use it's name cause they can't think of there own names.
