Default Bypassed factory amp and now have problems

I am a newbie so apologize if this has been covered however I could not find any coverage when I searched.

In my 2006 Dodge Dakota Magnum I installed an after market head unit with DVD/ GPS etc.

I bypassed the factory amp and used a an adapter to plug into the original behind the head unit adapter.

The wires were supposed to match however they did not so I worked out what was what.

The original connectors behind the head unit consisted of a large and a small connector. I did not connect anything to the small connector which has 3 wires in it.

The new head unit works fine however all the instrument panel warning lights light up all the time. When I unplug the the new head unit only the check engine lite comes on but stays on.

I know I have the CANBUS system so something is screwed up with that and I bet the ODB connector does not work.

Has anyone any experience with this and how to overcome the issue without going to a shop?

I have no idea. The original unit has Daimler/Chrysler and a part number on it.
It has a 6 cd changer.

Problem solved. Found the wire pair that was causing the problem.

Glad you got it figured out. My system in my f150 kept taking the bass away almost every time I took a left turn. Ended up being a bad crimp connector. Re stripped and new connector and it was all good. I had a pioneer 760 amp and pioneer 8inch premier flat cone subwoofer. Only had an 8 because I had a ford ranger regular cab when I bought it and I am 6'5" tall so I had to get a flat cone. What did you go with in yours?

At the moment I have simply bypassed the existing factory amp. My next step is to figure out whether I have the correct polarity on all the speakers. They sound fine however I am nor sure if I have the wires correctly configured as colors changed several times between the new head unit and the speakers.

I have cosmetic finish work to do around the new head unit.

The truck is the work horse my supercharged Jag is my pampered favorite and now the good weather is finally here in MD I am spending more time with that.
