Default oil change 4.7 dakota quadcab

i've had this truck long enough to do several oil changes and have just one question? it's really no big deal, but when removing the oil filter oil always gets onto the front axle and other stuff. then there are always oil spots on the carport and driveway until it all finally clears itself from the nooks and crannies below. does anyone know of a way to eliminate this? i am sure someone else has seen this small nusiance? thanks in advance for any suggestions?

when I do it at work I fold a plastic license plate(like the ones when it was new) in half length wise and feed it through the access hole in the bottom.

working at a Dodge Dealer as well, I always just remove the entire plastic cover. That access hole just isn't worth messing with. Usually don't have much trouble with it getting all over anything else.

hey quad man

I got this from another site and it works great. All you do is cut the bottom of a 2 Litre pop bottle out and put a cap on it. Then lossen the oil filter and put the pop bottle through the access hole and unscrew the oil filter with the bottle pressed up as high as you can get it and the filter will come off, just let it fall into the bottle and hold it there for 30 secs to let any excess oil drip into the bottle. This works awesome and not a drop on the garage, and no need to take plastic cover off.
