Default drunk drivers and MPG

This week i got only 11 mpg, because of drunk, high, and generally unsafe drivers. [sm=alcoholic.gif]I usually drive 65-70 and get 20-22 mpg, but i also use the gas to get away from drivers who don't know how to drive. [:@] As you can see by my signature, my truck is built for going fast and getting out of most situations on the road. But using the gas like that is starting to hurt my bottom line, and there aren't any raises being handed out at work this year.

thanks for the room to rant!

I hate to say it dude, but drivers like you are the reason that people get killed. You won't outrun a drunk guy, you'll be the reason that the drunk guy starts racing in the first place and kills a family of 4 at an intersection. You want to get away from drunk drivers? Stay off the road between 12AM and 3AM. Granted, speed isn't the only thing that kills people, idiocy does.

No need to outrun them, just report. That will slow them down atleast...

whyte69, would love to stay off the road at thoes times, but i work untill 11-11:30 every night then face a 45 min drive home. Ramfan, i did have to do that on a couple of ocassions. my biggest complant is thoes people who are driving along then all of a sudden start to swerve all over the road. if i can see them ahead of me, i can get over a couple of lanes and avoid them, but there are more and more ocassions where they just start to swerve all of a sudden. last night a cop was behind me and i sped up to avoid such a driver, he started to go after me, but then relised why i moved over so suddenly, and pulled over the other guy.

Yeah you got lucky...most of the cops around here in St. Louis arent smart enough to spot a drunk driver if he toasted him at a stoplight. They prefer to 'keep everyone safe' by handing out tickets for driving 5mph over the ridiculously low posted limit. I love revenue collectors!

Outrunning Drunk Drivers....
I don't know where you live but I've driven all over the country that time of night and have not experienced your problem more than a half dozen times in 15 years.
