2004 dakota check engine light
i recently purchaced a new 2004 dodge dakota and the check engine light costantly comes on, the truck also whines as it is getting up to speed,it is a 6cyl and i have taken it back to the dealer 6 times now, i have only 1400kms on it and i am very fustrated has anyone else had this problem and how did you fix it. this is my 3rd dakota in a row and i have never had this problem before. i am so disapointed in this truck and brantford chysler. just curious if any one else has experienced this problem
I have a 1996 Dakota, v6 magnum, I have the same problem with the check light. Recently, I realise that when I am going up a hill, the check light flashes.
Additionally, my tranny is giving problems. When I start the van, put it in drive it works fine. When I stop and moving off again, it is stuck ina high gear. I took it to a transmission specialist and they said it needs a PCM because the driver in it is burnt.
anybody has a solution?

I just had the same problem. I returned my Dakota to the Dealer and they told me that the oxygen sensor was bad. They replaced it and everything is fine now. They told me at the dealer that if your check engine light is flashing, you have a serious problem and should bring it in for service right away. They told me if the light stays on continually it isn't as critical, but you should take it to the dealer as soon as possible.
Hope this helps

What is the code? To check, you turn the key on-off-on-off-on. The code will appear in the odometer window. I have code P2099 (Catalytic Converter Efficiency) show up on my 04 QC each time I drive to LA from San Diego. There are 2 computer fixes to this, one has been installed, the other is waiting for California to approve, since it deals with the emissions system.
