Could someone please tell me if it is possible to reset the required maintenance light on a 1992 dodge dakota without taking it to a dealer, Thank you

 

I'll bet there has to be a way. Have you tried a service manual like Haynes? I have an 88 Dodge and it took me 15 years to find out where they hid the switch to turn it off. I had to remove a fake cover on the dash and there is was. Funny how they go to great lengths to make sure owners can't do it themselves.

 

The light will reset after several startups, you don't want to disconect the battery because the computer will have to relearn the mixture and tranny shifts, also if you disconnect the battery there is a trouble code form batter disconnected in last 50 starts, mine is a 3.9 but I don't think they have changed the way they check the codes, just some of the programs for the engine itself I know this is also true on the Caravans and Intrepids so I'm assuming Dodge has done this with all it's fleet, and it's not failed me yet. Just keep driving it and it should go off in a week or so.
