Default ball joints

Had a tire issue, ran over something and popped one, took it to the tire man and had a new tire put on. While there I figured what the heck, I have the alignment checked. Tire man could not align it, ball joint had too much movement. Truck only has 24000 miles. From what I read I am not alone.

No... not alone at all... the ball joints are a common issue.

pastorkenmcd. Unfortunately, the Dakotas have been plagued with ball joint problem. From what i understand, NAPA carries a replacement that can be lubed, which is the key to keeping them going. Good luck.

I had my ball joints checked when I had my lift put on, the guy said they were perfect. I guess I got lucky..KNOCK ON WOOD...he said it was the only Dakota that had been in there that didn't have to have them replaced. My truck has 49000 on it. The only thing is I'm guessing the lift and big tires are going to be rough on the ball joints, so I know I will end up having to replace them. Anyone know how much they run?

Well with only 24000 miles i'm guessing the truck is probably still under warranty. So take it to the dealer and have it repaired.
