Default Evaporator Drain Tube!

After a 400 mile journey in the Wifes 02 Dakota (4.7 4x4 atx short bed short cab), my wife noticed a swamp in the passenger side floorboard. I got to looking and doing some tests and noticed that when I run the truck with the A/C on, half of the water coming from the A/C Evap box is going out where it should and half is coming back in. I know it is not coolant, there is no sweet tast and the water is clean. My question is this, has anyone experienced this problem and what was your solution. I put Silicone around the outside of the tube where it comes through the firewall. I believe the possibility exists that the water is coming off the end of the tube and running back towards the firewall alond the outside bottom of the tube. Since there is nothing there but a cheesy piece of foam there is nothing to really stop it. I have just begun working on this truck seeing as it just went out of warranty so I am rather new to it. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have an '01 and have just now encountered the same problem. I have posted an enquirey to Dodge asking for assistance. I pulled into the driveway this evening and the pax side has at least a quart of water in it. Too dark to see anyting right now. Let me know what you find and I'll keep you posted on what Dodge says.

I figured out what is happening. The water is running out the tube then back toward the truck along the bottom of the tube. Since there is only foam it comes through and goes into the floorboard. I put silicone around the outside of the tube on the bottom side of it so that water will run down the firewall. It worked. Hopefully it will work for you!

I have a 99 Dakota Club Cab. Same problem of a swamp. Took to the dealer at least 8 times and no joy. I am going to try the silicone patch. Let you know what happens.
