I have a V8 5.7L 4 speed Auto 94 Dakota that has been having some starting problems I cant seem to track down. When I start it up for the first time of the day, the truck wont start. The engine turns but wont fire. It starts on the 2nd turn but not very good. After I start it I try to repeat the problem but it fires right up like normal. Also I get every now and again I turn the key nothing happens. I get power and lights but the starter wont start the truck. If anyone has any ideas please post.

Also I had the spark plugs and wires and cap and roter changed a couple months ago.

 

Little error I need to correct. Its a 5.2L engine not 5.7L. I was think of my other truck. Sorry for any confusion.

 

I had a similar problem with my 99 sometimes it would start fine and then I would shut it off and try to start it again then I would get no fire. Put a code reader on it and never got a fault code. I took it to the dealer and they replaced the Camshaft position sensor and that fixed the problem this seem to go out alot. Hope this helps
