service four wheel drive light
Hi all, new to the forum, but have been scouring the web looking for any info.
I have an 01 dakota 4x4 sport. Quite a few months ago, at random times, the service 4wd light would come on. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary...next time I shut it off, and back on, no problem. Next time I had it in for service (tranny maint) I asked them to check it. Couldn't find anything wrong...no codes, nothing obvious, couldn't duplicate, etc...
Now, it has been coming on a lot more, and lately, it even gets "stuck" in 4HI at startup sometimes. Moving the selector **** has no effect. Usually, shutting her off, and back on clears the problem. Today, it didn't want to clear, and even though I got it to indicate 2wd (and it felt like 2wd), when I was turning hard in the parking garage, it felt like 4wd had engaged. I shut it off, and back on, and the lights kept cycling between 2 and 4.
I got an appointment with the dealer later in the week, but was wondering if anyone had experienced this before, just in case, again, they don't find something. If so, is it an easy fix? I'm no mechanic, but I can work a hammer, and sometimes a wrench. :-)
Thanks for any insight.
