Default Trunk won't stay closed!

Just got my 2013 Dodge Dart back from the shop getting some body work done. Had to replace the drivers rear door. Went to put stuff in the trunk from the rental car and when I tried to close the trunk, it popped open like as if the fob was in the trunk. It definitely wasn't in the trunk. I tried playing with the button on the trunk thinking maybe it was stuck. I tried playing with the emergency trunk release but no luck. Tried pushing the interior trunk button and the key fob button, still no luck. The only way I got the trunk to stay closed was by putting the car in neutral then closing the trunk. Any suggestions or ideas to try? Thanks!

Wiring on right trunk hinge being pinched. Possibly in the harness where it leads from under the back seat and door sill area. Taking the car out of park inhibits the trunk release command.

Hi SarahLC78,

I'd recommend revisiting the shop that did the body work repairs for further diagnosis. If it was a certified dealership I'd be happy to follow up with them for you if needed, just PM our page with your VIN and let me know!

Default Fixed!

I took it back to the shop as suggested. When he replaced the rear door, he didn't change out the wiring harness. Apparently the new harness wasn't as advanced as mine. Works good as new again!
