Default Rattle fixed then tranny dies on 2013 Dart Rallye

Long story but has anyone had their tranny stop in the middle of driving? Is this a systemic problem? I'll report to NTSB.

I had a rattle under the drivers side door for a couple of years and it started getting worse a couple of months ago. I took it in and they said something on the center was tightened so they tightened it no charge. Didn't pay attention to what they said was loose...maybe I should have!

Yesterday I was driving over the hump from Pahrump into Vegas and at the top of the pass as I tapped the break to slow down, turning off cruise control, I got a message "gear not available" then check engine light came on and "service transmission" message. I made a uturn and headed home. It ran fine as long as I didn't slow down then try to speed up again. It wasn't going through all the gears. If I tried to manual shift it said "gear unavailable". I made it into Auto zone and they ran for codes. Came up with three but no explanation of what they meant (I haven't looked them up yet). So I tried to back out of the parking space and no reverse, R flashing. I managed to get it maneuvered out of the space and drove to a garage across from the Dodge dealer (they had tightened the rattle). They said another shop in town was best for tranny work but if the TCM needed to be reset they could only do it across the street. I had parked so I wouldn't have to back out and wouldn't you know it a lady parked in front of me, heard me say inside I didn't have reverse and didn't come out to move so I could pull out! I was on a slight incline so I rolled back a little and went across the street.

Dodge won't be able to get to it until late next week but I left it there instead of having it towed there later. So has anyone had this problem? TYIA
