Default Power windows.

The power windows on my 85 Laser XT go down fine, but they have A LOT of trouble going back up, you have to use your hand and lift it up while holding the power up button or else they won't go up. What is the problem here, or what is the solution??
Thanks guys!

Probably a window motor.

Yep, the motors are just old and wore out. My Shelby Z's power windows got that way too, mainly in the winter time.

COULD ALSO BE THAT THE SPRING IN THE WINDOW REGULAOR IS BROKEN. IT IS THERE TO ASSIST THE WINDOW MOTOR IN GOING UP. ALSO BE SURE TO LUBE THE WINDOW GUIDE CHANNELS WITH PURE SILICONE SPRAY LUBE. IF THEY ARE OLD AND DRY THEY WILL CAUSE THE GLASS TO BIND.

Not too hard, if you're fairly handy. I replaced them on my daughter's '89. I bought rebuilt motors on eBay. The motors are pop riveted in, so the rivets need to be drilled out. They can be relaced with 1" bolts with lockwashers and nuts. You'll probably end up breaking the track (it will be brittle) but new ones are still available from the dealer. The Haynes manual has pretty decent instructions on how to do this, but I also got some good tips from the Daytona forum at allpar.com. You can do a search for "power windows" and you'll probably find my original post.

I have no idea. I bought them off of eBay, already rebuilt.

Well I fixed my problem. All I did was take a can of WD-40 and spray, well soak everything that moves inside the door. And now it works great, and without the slightest hesitations.
