Default Temp gauge reading question.

Looking a my temp gauge, I was just wondering approximately what the temperature is at each mark? I have a third generation Daytona 2.5L T1 and the gauge has two marks between the 'Hot' mark and 'Cold' mark. [/align]

Default RE: Temp gauge reading question.

I know that manufacturers set the gauges to read roughly in the middle of the "sweep" at normal operating temp, oil pressure, etc. I added an aftermarket set of gauges to my 85 and the temp reads around 210 with the factory gauge in the middle. As for what each mark means, I used to know what temp the "C" and "H" marks represented, but I think those brain cells departed years ago cuz I can't remember. I want to say the "H" was 280 (my aftermarket stops at 250 ,which I hit whenthebelt ejected itself from the pulleys, and the factory was just above the mark below "H").

Sorry to hear that happen. Hopefully you got away from any damage to the head.

Thanks. 210 F is around the middle. Depending on if the car is moving or idling, I'm running between the marks just one above the cold and one below the hot. Things seem to be fine.

I got the car stopped and cooled down before any damage happened- the heads on these things are pretty durable as I'm finding out. Just the factory gaskets suck. Replaced it with a Fel-Pro and no more problems. But as long as the temp runs between the two "inner" marks you're good.
