Hey everyone I have an 89 Daytona Shelby 2.2 turboII. I need to buy a manual transmision for it. Anyone have one for sale or know where I can get one? Im getting very frustrated, this seems to be a very hard to find item. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanx.

 

All of the 2.2L Turbo II's had the same exact transmission through the years, it's the Getrag A-555 manual transaxle. They are just as hard to find as the 2.2L Turbo II engines and the A-555 is often used for drag racing and put behind Turbo I's as well since they are stronger than the A-525's that they came with. You can use the A-525, but it is a weaker tranny and will not hold up behind the Turbo II after hard use. It might be easier to check around for one by looking for it by name (Getrag A-555).

You could substitute an A520 trans in you Shelby Z until you find an A555 replacement. The A520 is still a very stout piece, very plentiful at the bone yards, and would be a direct bolt-in for your car. The A520 is the "brother" trans to the A555. The only difference is that the A520 did not receive the Getrag gear set or the 4-pinion differential. Many people in the "Turbo Dodge" world call it "the other" A555.

 

i dont know if a 88 will fit but i have an 88 transmission 5 speed from a 88 dodge daytona shelby 2 with turbo that i aint using, i also have the clutch and pressure plate, but if u want the axels' that i cant give cause i had to use the axel from the right side in my 87 auto that the axel got broke in. but if u want it drop me an email on here or in my email in my profile.
