Squeeling 93 daytona 2.5L 4cyl automatic
[:@]I just replaced head gasket and put a new timing belt on and set timing.It runs rough and tranny is not shifting right.Got code of 21 meaning O2 sensor is crap. When it is running it squeels from water pump pulley. I tried to loosen belt and tighten it to see if it will stop but no luck. Also when giving it some gas in park(reving it)it sounds like a slight backfire when I let off of gas.I'm guessing that is because O2 sensor is no good.Any thoughts? But I'm really stumped on the squeeling(high pitch)only gets louder when giving it more gas and fades almost away when let off of gas but is still there.Maybe need a new water pump?Please any ideas?
Did you put in all new belts for everything when you installed the timing belt? If not then the belt on the water pump may be going out. The 02 sensor may be causing the backfire, but if that doesn't fix it check the timing to make sure everything is in spec. Did you set the ignition timing? Did you make sure you unhooked the coolant temp sensor when you timed it?
No I didn't get new belts.no i didn't set ignition timing ???don't know how.I set the timing by just lining all the right marks on crank and made sure it was TDC.

You have the spacers in the alternator installed wrong. The alt is not lining up. I did the same thing. Ate a belt on the freeway, overheated and blew the headgasket. Replaced all and still had a squeal from the belt. I took a prybar and moved the alt with the engine running ~ squeal stopped. I took the alt off and installed washers to line up the alt and had no problems since....
Hi put new belts on and it stopped squeeling . But now in just a short drive through city (stop&go)for about 15minutes it started to over heat. I got an oil change and the mechanic told me it must have slipped a tooth(timingbelt)it is still running rough and he told me when I put timing belt on one of the wheels turned and skipped a notch.He told me that would make it over heat.He also told me there is sensor on the head just behind the thermostat. Supposedly that sensor controls the electric fan which I just found out isnot turning on.Do you know what this sensor is called and if it will work (to make fan come on).I'm gonna adjust timing belt tomorrow.Fingers crossed.Thanks for any help.

As for the fan, make sure it is plugged in all the way. The clips on the plug get old and won't hold in all the way, this could be the problem. Push the plug in all the way and see if it works then. If not, check the relay for it. Also, Cam timing shouldn't cause your engine to overheat, but over-advanced ignition timing can. If you need to know how to time the ignition let me know.
