what is the tool called that is used to hold the crank or any other wheel in one place while you tighten bolts>for example i pulled the wheel off my waterpump and when i put it back on the only way i could tighten bolts is to hold wheel with vicegrips and now the wheel squeels and is all gouged and dented>thanks for any help

 

strap wrench has a rubber strap that goes around a pulley. spanner type wrench has some pegs that go into the holes in the face of the pulley.
