wiring kits for electric fan

Has anyone used one of these kits.They have a relay and thermastat and make fan kick on at 180 then turn off at 170 or something like that. My cooling fan will not turn on ,something in the wiring the motor and relay are fine. These kits go for about $50.Any ideas thanks for the help.
