Default Daytona IROC R/T VS Conquest TSI

Hi, everyone I hope finally I can find some advice here. I currently own a 92, Daytona blue I've put all kinds of love into making this car look good but the poor little blue is just the basic 4 banger.

I've been searching for an IROC R/T but havent found squat.

I am purchasing an 89 Conquest TSI, a great buy at $850 and only needs a turbo seal and a paint job.

So, the questions are
1. Who has the bigger ***** an IROC R/T or the TSI( dont be byist daytona lovers I wouldn't trade mine for the world.)
2. If I cant find a R/T could a TSI motor be injected to my 92 es.

Yes, I am aware the daytona is FWD and the TSI RWD. I want to know if it could be done or if I am just dreaming about Monster Garage[]

I would definately think the IROC would make more power and have more hypothetical "*****".

An IROC R/T will had a TSI it's #%&^$ every day of the week. When they came out they were dubbed the fastest FWD car built in North America. I have driven a few TSI's and wasn't very impressed, which was very disappointing since everone seemed to rave about how quick and fast they were. My Shelby Z was far more impressive than any of the TSI's I drove. I do love the looks and the design of the TSI. The TSI's are well known for blowing heads (insert joke here), so be prepared.

Instead of trying to swap the TSI's 2.6 turbo into your Daytona it would probably be just as easy to convert the Daytona to RWD and drop a 340 or 360 into it. If you want a much easier project, drop a 340 or 360 into the TSI, it is far easier to do and there is a Mopar magazine that did just that as a project. I was wanting to drop a 440 into my Shelby Z, but I didn't have the time and money to do it.[&o]

It sounds like it would be a huge job to convert my 89' shelby to rwd, but is it possible, and what engine would swap right in?

Mopar Performance made a RWD conversion kit for the Daytona years ago, but it is no longer available from them. If you can find one of these conversion kits it would be far easier, but it can be done without it, it would just take more time and effort. Swapping the 2.6L turbo will be just as difficult as the V8 RWD swap. If you plan on spending the time and money on it, I would recommend you try instead to get an SRT-4 2.4L turbo or a 2.2L Turbo II. Or better yet, get a built 2.2L Turbo Enforcer II or III from Forward Motion, here is a link to them: http://www.forwardmotioninc.com/html...er_engines.htm

71 RR is right, I've been playing with my Shelby Z, either build yours, or buy one built from the above thread. They are a very good company to work with and stand behind their goodies. Keep in mind, this guy is a specialist on our engines, so he knows every detail about them, I promise.

lol seen this post and had to respond! i love the daytona don't get me wrong but our lightly modded 88 conquest (20g 3in downpipe & exhaust 3:90 gears) has ate up several of those cars at the local mopar shows in Hunstsville.
the turbo 3 is a awesome engine no doubt , but the quest just squats and goes.
no wheelspin, no wheel hop (thanks to its corvette style rear suspension)
when built right the 2.6 turbo quest is a monster.

I f you want to do a rear wheel drive conversion I STRONGLY recommend you track down exline on here. He does custom conversions and builds the chassis parts himself. He even has a link (somewhere) to his video on youtube of his 91 doin a burnout. His website is www.exlinecustomauto.com

Lightly modded with a 20g? Uhh yeah right....go with the IROC. theres more of a market out there and if you put a hybrid onem and some lonewolf stuff you will have a FAST car.
