Any turbo rebuilders here
Got my turbo yesterday but it needs the compressor wheel replaced. How does the wheel come off I got the nut off the end of the shaft but the wheel will not move. I don't want to pry too hard as not to mess up the turbo so does anyone have any ideas.
When i rebuilt my turbo for my daytona, i ended up pulling the compressor bolt off, soaking the shaft with liquid wrench and loosening the compressor housing. Then i took a rubber malllet and slightly tapped the housing until it moved up. Since the wheel is flat on the back side, you wont damage the wheel or the otherside of the housing. That seemed to work for me. Also make sure you mark the housing on what location it was at.
Since you're going have to replace the compressor wheel, it is advisable to have to turbo to be balanced. By then, you might as well spend the extra $100 to get the turbo rebuild.

Personally I would not use FWD for turbos
Slow to respond and they don't answer the phone!
This is the main reason why I quit using them 5 years ago.

Thanks nmmopar. Its my baby.
I wouldnt use TU for a turbo because it took them 4 months to rebuild my s70. And the fuel rail I got from them needs all kinds ofre-drilling to make it work.Cindy answers the phone everytime I call. And she has saved my *** more times than I can count by shipping my stuff overnight at her cost and whatnot. She is where I got everything for my RT. Minus the portwork and the holset. That came from LoneWolf performance. So if you are lookign for the best damn port work around. www.lonewolfperformance.com Talk to wallace. My RT head flowed 280cfm on the intake and 224cfm on the exhaust at .350" lift. And thats just a stage one.
Plus his cams. Lets just say, the car is BEGGING for the holset HX-40pro he sold me. The little s70 hairdryer is just not cutting it. Not to mention I got some BAD advice to do a wheel clip on the S70 which made it a laggy POS from TU. My buddy with another RT had the same problem as far as a wait for his turbo. He didnt get his clipped, and it performed alot better than mine.
She will also be the source for ALL of my 87 shelbys Z'z stuff as well.

Thanks for the info turbobearcat and bansheenut420,
I'm in the early stages of restoring a 1990 Daytona Shelby VNT and I bought a vnt off of ebay for it, but I want to have the one that came with the car rebuilt too for a back up so I'm not in a real hurry I guess.
I like the fact that I've seen some posts from Cindy on this forum but maybe Chris from unleashed is here too, I don't know because I'm pretty new here. Either way, that's two good leads!
Thanks again guys,
josh
