Default I know this isn't a Daytona but........

I recently bought my son his first car, and keeping with tradition, it's a Dodge. Ok, electrical problems are a major pain in the rear with these Dodges. I now have a 1993 Dynasty. Great condition for the year. Runs like a champ, however, I can't get the @$%#% radio to work. I checked the fuse, fine. I bought another radio, nothing. Ifigured that if the new radio worked, it would blow the fuse, which leads me to believe that there is no juice running to the radio asI ALWAYSblow atleast one fuse when I change a radio. If I can convince my husband to pull apart his dash on his 05 Neon, I can confirm if the new radio works or not.The previous owner told me that he let some idiot(ugh!) work on the car and he fried the radio. The idiot insisted that there was power to theradio(BS).The gauges for the temp and oil are quirky(what else is new on these cars?) Now then, does this mean I need a whole new wiring harness for the radio? Can I do this myself or should I let a professional do this? Would a mechanic be able to do this? Don't have decent tools, so primitive trial and error advice welcomed. Thanks, Cheryl

If the fuse for the radio is good, check for juice in the wire for the radio using a test light or meter or if no other options touch the wire to a good ground source, only a quick touch.
If you have power, check the grounding points.

You should be able to change a radio yourself, just go to crutchfield.com and see if they have free wiring diagrams for your car and go from there.

If not, you can always buy a set of "wiring harness adapters" for your radio, which may cost like $15 and they will send you a free wiring diagram along with it. That way in the future you don't have to cut wires in the cars harness to change the radio. (provided the original harness plug is still there, if not, try to find one from a junkyard)

The other cool thing about this little purchase is that crutchfield has really good customer service, so you can call them up and ask questions about your wiring once you have your order number to refer to so that they know that you're a customer!

Like moparborn said, check the power wires for power and go from there.

Another little trick just in case your harness is all messed up is that if you take a 9v battery and touch the different speaker wires to it (one wire pos and one wire neg) you can hear the speaker make a low popping sound. This doesn't hurt the speaker, and it will let you figure out which wires go to which speakers by listening for the pop.

Found a wiring diagram for free online and it turns out that my 1990 Daytona, 1993 Dynasty and 2005 Neon are all the same. I also found out that certain model year Intrepids have the same wiring. Too hot to tinker, as the radio is a minor fix. I will wait till the fall to try again. Thanks for the help.

Turns out the moron who "worked" on the car prior blew two fuses. One for the computer and another one that was connected with radio and ignition switch. Radio worked so well that I upgraded to an Infinity system.
