90 shelby daytona
Ok i am new to this site and daytonas. I got a 1990 daytona shelby 2.2 TII automatic for free. The tranny is not working on the car. I was just wondering what tranny is in this car and a ballpark on a cost to replace it at a local tranny shop. These cars seem pretty sweet and i cannot wait to get my hands on it. Thanks for your time.
id find a 555 ( about 200$ ) chrome moly trans plate from fwd performance ( 120$+shipping ) and hang a pedal (about 30$) and prob solved if u can drive a clutch, alot cheaper then getting a auto bebuilt thats what tranny my 89 shelby tona has and it pulls like crazy
That's odd, the 2.2L Turbo II's only came with a manual transmission, the automatics were too weak. Not only that, but the previous manual transmissions (Turbo I's A-525) were too weak, so they had to build a stronger one to handle the Turbo II's added power, this was the A-555 Getrag manual transaxle.
Yea the daytona is a 1990 2.5t not the TII . My mistake. It has the a413 tranny which isnt the greatest. I did get the car for free so i cannot complain. I do however plan on pushing this enging to around 220 - 240 hp. Do you think the auto can hold this power? I want to convert to manual but it would be way too much work. I wanna get this tranny done in about a week and im in college so a manual is kinda out of the question. I hope the tranny will hold up. Hey does anyone know if the performance computers for the 2.2 works for the 2.5's? A lot of parts seem to be interchangeable between the two. I also plan on intercooling this engine. Any suggestions on cheap ic's that fit my application? Thanks for the help.
Getting another hundred horsepower isn't easy, but it also isn't rocket science either. I don't know of the PCM's being swapable between the 2.2L and the 2.5L. There are intercooler kits made for the non intercooled turbos, so that is good news. Here is a link to another thread in which I have left a few great links to other sites that have the info and parts to do exactly what your looking to do: https://dodgeforum.com/m_183635/tm.htm One of the sites gives you specific recipes for certain power levels up to and beyond 500 horsepower.
