Default '87 Daytona fusible links burned out

ok so here's the story: i got an 87 daytona and last year sometime i was out driving and the car just died when i stopped fast. i would turn the key, and absolutley nothing would happen. i woulnt turn over, none of the gauges would flash, no radio, nothing. we determined it was probably a fusible link, and eventually we found where it was. i got a starter out of a lebaron at a junk yard and it was tested good, because we figured out the starter was bad in mine. we replaced the part of fusible link that had burnt, and acutally got it started. but then when we started it again, the wire smoked and fizzled out. the people im working with say it might be the ignition switch, or some bad wiring in it, but thats as far as i know...
and if i cant get it fixed by the 18th im gonna have to sell it, so im pretty desperate to get it fixed cause i love my car...
any help is appreciated.
