Default New to site 1988 Daytona problems

Hi. I am trying to get my daughters 1988 Daytona to run. It is a 2.5 NA. When it is warm (later in the day) I can get it to start and run just fine. If I try to start it in the morning it won't idle and it bucks, coughs and generally won't run very well. I have replaced the pickup in the distributor and the fuel filter. The only codes that I am getting is a code 34, but the car doesn't have cruise control. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

do a compression test when it's cold.

get your hands on a real scanner and see what values you are getting for the sensors.

EGR is probably stuck open. It should not function at cold idle. Grab its valve stem with needlenose pliers with engine running, both cold and hot, and lift the stem up, then let go. It should stumble/stall when lifted, recover when released. If there is no change, buy a new EGR assembly and also clean out the orifice below the valve.

Default Fixed it

Thanks to all who have offered a solution. I finally fixed the problem by running fuel injector cleaner through the gas.
