Okay right now I'm trying to replace the head gasket for the car

So far I have all the screws nuts bolts off of the valve cover, but I'm having a hard time removing the valve cover...

There are three black cables that are on top of the valve cover that leads to what looks like an ignition switch (i'm not too sure)

Anyways those cables are keeping me from removing the valve cover and I was curious if anyone knew how to remove them?

Steps I've Tried to Remove the Valve Cover

1: Violently tried to rip off the valve cover.
2: Tried to unbolt the mechanism (the ignition switch what I think) but then I realized that there is a spring near it that looks as if it will spring out if I take off the mechanism
3: Take off the bolts at the end of one of the cables only to find out that within the cable theres a steel or metal or whatever cable on the inside that makes it impossible for me to remove.

Please help if you can and sorry for the lack of terminalogy, If theres any more information that you need I'll try to upload them to you, I'm going to see if I can take a digital picture of it and try to upload it for you to see.
