On a 87 daytona z does anyone know what all the power control modual does? And why it has to be in the air flow?

 

Are you talking about your computer on the fender in the engine bay? Your intake goes through it to cool it. You don't need to run the intake through it, but I would leave the plastic housing and inlet tube on it so it still gets air flow. Your PCM controllers a lot of things on your car, it wont run without it.
