89 Daytona...HELP!
I have a 1989 daytona, non turbo 4 cylinder...5-speed
when you start it it starts and then shuts right off, it will start right back up and shut off again...you can do this all day...
this has been a problem from day one, only it was when it was raining...after rain it ran fine, then it started doing it on clear days and now it wont strighten up
i have replaced
O'2 senser
T.B. pressure reg.
fuel pump and sock
T.B temp senser
fuel filter
TPS
mapp senser
EGR vavle was checked and is ok
has not jumped timing and gas was drained
ive checked all wireing connectors, unpluged and repluged everything
checked all vacume hoses
when it starts it runs mabey 2 seconds and the motor sounds fine...it just shuts it self off...if i pump the gas pedal real fast and get it above 3000 rpm i can keep it running a little while but as soon as it falls below that it shuts off
im at a loss as to what to do now... .anybody got any ideas....
Thanks

hes right. Replace your head gastket cuz if its doing that then that means there is almost no seal at all and without a seal you get no suction. anyways, replace it right away. And dont get the cork ones, they wear out way too fast. Get one of the rubbery plastic ones. You also dont have to re torque those ones like you'd have to with cork. Hope that the problem gets solved soon, best of luck to you!
before you go ripping into the head gasket, check out your alternator and battery. If you said it stays on when reved, then that means your spinning it faster and the battery is staying cherged better. When it rained and my alternator belt got wet, it sliped and caused a power loss, i could see the lights dim...then i changed battery and alternator and it was fine.
